Welcome to the Hello Saturday NEWSLETTER
Our Hello Saturday newsletters are crafted with care, filled with design tips, seasonal trends, and fresh inspiration. We’ve hosted them here so you can easily revisit past editions and spark ideas for your next project.
Off-the-shelf furniture asks your home to compromise. Custom made doesn't. From sofas and armchairs to bench seats and headboards, every piece is designed around your dimensions, your materials and the way you actually live. Inside our August edit: a Mount Eden bungalow furnished from scratch, our top picks from local designers Woodwrights and Kovacs, and the fabrics we're loving right now.
Part Two of our Kitchen Designer's Guide, current-project moodboards, July in photos, and our biggest tip for anyone building or renovating.
Two kitchen looks taking centre stage in 2026, the behind-the-scenes moodboards and custom furniture we've been working on, June in photos, and a sneak peek at the technical kitchen guide landing in July.
May brought a lot of good things. The Laundry Edit is finally on the blog — eight honest design questions answered from someone who has lived through three very imperfect laundries. We also made it to Bali, which was everything we needed it to be. Plus, the month in photos and a very exciting introduction: meet Gus, the Sayer family's new cat, who has already made himself entirely at home.
This April, we’re marking a special milestone as Hello Saturday turns 10. In this month’s newsletter, we’re reflecting on the journey so far, sharing a few highlights from NZ Design Week — including guest speaker Tom Dixon, Linehouse, and Design Restaurant from Hong Kong — and rounding things out with a simple month in photos capturing what has been inspiring us lately.
We’re sharing some of the interior design questions we’re asked most often by clients, along with our thoughts and advice.
Designing a home is about more than selecting finishes or following trends — it’s about creating spaces that reflect personality, support everyday living, and tell a story. In this refreshed blog, we take you inside one of our latest projects: a mid-century inspired kitchen renovation. Through thoughtful planning, material selection, and layered detailing, we explore how designing with personality and purpose can transform a functional space into the heart of the home.
We’re starting the year by sharing a small edit of our favourite rooms from recent Hello Saturday projects—spaces we loved designing and styling, each with its own sense of calm, character, and purpose. We’re also taking you along on a late-November trip to Melbourne, where beautifully considered interiors, hidden bars, and long walks offered the perfect creative reset.
From all of us at Hello Saturday, we wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas.
As we look to 2026, we’re looking forward to starting new projects and bringing several much-loved 2025 projects across the finish line.
And because Christmas in Aotearoa is all about sun-drenched days, great company, delicious food — and a good drink — we’re sharing one of our festive favourites. Tequila is my go-to, and this Christmas margarita is fresh, summery, and just a little bit special.
As the year comes to an end, we’re reflecting on the wonderful people we’ve met and the beautiful homes we’ve had the privilege to help shape. Christmas is a time to gather the things you love — the pieces collected over years, the heirlooms passed down, the stories held in every ornament. Inspired by my time living in Germany, where traditions deepen through meaningful objects, this season we’re embracing an “old-world charm with a modern touch.” Whether you’re hosting, refreshing your home, or styling the perfect Christmas tree, we hope you find inspiration in creating a Christmas that grows with you.
November brings that pre-summer energy — lighter days, warm evenings, and homes opening to the outdoors. This month, we celebrate the beauty of heirloom design and explore how vintage and modern pieces can live beautifully side by side. From styling tips and moodboard inspiration to where to find vintage gems in New Zealand, discover how thoughtful design creates spaces that feel layered, soulful, and effortlessly lived-in.
This month, we’re sharing the story behind Hello Saturday — how a simple weekend word came to capture the feeling we want every home to evoke: relaxed, joyful, and beautifully effortless. Plus, discover how our design expertise extends beyond residential interiors. From offices to retail, we craft commercial spaces that not only look stunning but work beautifully for your brand, your people, and your purpose.
I love September — it has to be one of my favourite months. The days are getting longer, the birdsong louder, and the spring bulbs are starting to bloom. It’s a reminder that brighter days are ahead, and it always makes me think about fresh starts — in life, and in the spaces around us.
This month, we’re turning our attention to the heart of the home: the kitchen. From thoughtful layouts and early appliance planning to choosing finishes and coordinating metals, there are so many ways to make your kitchen both beautiful and functional. We’re sharing our top tips to help you create a space you’ll love for years to come.
August is the perfect time to plan changes for your home. In this edition, we share the benefits of our access to trade-only suppliers and explore the beauty of custom-made furniture—tailored to your lifestyle, space, and stage of life. From unique, high-quality pieces to the design process itself, discover how bespoke solutions can transform your home.
We’re excited to share our latest project — the Ocean View Apartment Renovation. This serene, design-led transformation celebrates the art of considered living. From custom NZ-made furniture to a kitchen that connects effortlessly with its ocean-view surroundings, every detail was crafted with care. See how we turned our clients’ vision into a home that’s calm, cohesive, and beautifully connected to its place.
This June, we’re celebrating the calming power of colour—specifically, the timeless beauty of blue. From serene bedrooms to breezy living spaces, discover how this shade can bring a sense of peace to every corner of your home. We share favourite paint picks, easy styling tips, and simple ways to introduce blue—whether you want to start small or make a bold statement.
As summer fades and autumn arrives, it’s the perfect time to reimagine your home for the cooler months ahead. This season, we’re embracing warmth in every sense — from soft, creamy whites that add depth and calm, to rich, textured fabrics that make your space feel cosy and lived-in. Think thicker rugs, chunkier weaves, and gentle lighting that bridges indoors and out. With just a few thoughtful changes, you can create a home that feels like the best parts of summer — lingering warmth, comfort, and effortless style — carried beautifully into autumn.
