I am so excited to announce…

that I’ve been working with two amazing women, Portia Woodman and Dame Trelise Cooper, on Sealy’s 2019 Designer Bed fundraiser, to help raise vital funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.

Auctions for the two bedrooms that I worked on and designer Sealy beds will go live on Trade Me on Monday 14 October. That’s a designer bed worth $10,000 plus $2,000 worth of gorgeous bedroom products. If you’re looking for a new bed and a bedroom makeover, this is an awesome cause to get behind.

Trelise’s Design

It was clear from the outset that Trelise was going to make a bold statement with her bedroom; there would be nothing bland about it! She made the decision early on to have a predominantly pink bedroom. It was something we discussed (would men mind a pink bedroom?) but – as I have a pink wall in my master bedroom – we decided it would be no problem at all.

Trelise also wanted lights… lots of lights… and we decided to use the neon ‘Falling Deeply’ sign as the bedhead. There was no question that a special cushion for the bed would be made using embellishments from Trelise’s current season fashion collection, and her team also stitched extra details to the sheets and pillow cases. If you love pink and green, this is a bedroom not to be missed!

Behind the Scenes

Portia’s Bedroom

It was really important to Portia that the design of her bedroom incorporated her Maori heritage, so when I found this artwork by Āio by Maku Fenaroli I knew it was perfect for Portia’s bedroom. Overall, the room has a strong emphasis on natural, hand-made products and we’ve supported small New Zealand business as much as possible. There’s a lot of linen and Moroccan products (sourced by Emma from Bohzali), and we’ve kept the colours soft, calm and neutral. This design is timeless.
